Are you applying for a multi-year residence permit, a French residence permit, or French citizenship for the first time?
The Civic Exam is an official exam, developed by the French Ministry of the Interior, that assesses knowledge of French society, its values, and how it functions.

You can practice using this quiz, developed by the France Fraternité association, which offers 50 questions to help you prepare for the civics exam for free.
How works this exam?
The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions divided into 5 topics and is taken on a computer.
This test consists of:
28 questions on knowledge of specific concepts organized by topic (a list of official questions is available on the Civic Education website);
12 practical exercises in which you will apply this knowledge to a specific context (or case).
