Since 1883, the Alliance Française de Paris, France's largest institution for teaching French as a foreign language and cultural mediation, has been the benchmark for learning French. We offer our students and trainees from all over the world a unique experience of immersion in the French language and Francophone cultures.
Your training
Would you like to become a teacher of French as a foreign language by taking a classroom-based training course? We are proud to offer you the Alliance Française de Paris Teaching Diploma in French as a Foreign Language (DPAFP-FLE). This training course combines methodology, pedagogy, and empirical experience in teaching French as a foreign language.
Thanks to the methodological and pedagogical foundations taught throughout the program, as well as classroom observation and contact with learners of different nationalities, you will be fully operational after obtaining your DPAFP-FLE.
Become a DELF/DALF examiner and put your assessment skills into practice right after completing the training! (Optional certification session with a preferential rate for DPAFP trainees)

Dates for 2026-2027:
Registration for the entrance exam before June 2026
Entrance exam: at the Alliance Française in Paris in early June 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Publication of eligibility test results: end of June 2026
Selection interviews at the Alliance Française in Paris: early July 2026
Results: from mid-July 2026
Duration of training: 5 months (October 2026 to March 2027)
The objective of your training
Acquire the skills necessary to teach French as a foreign language to adults.
Your training program
Throughout your training, four educational areas will be studied:
Preparing a lesson: approach to grammar, phonetics, sociocultural aspects. Use of FLE textbooks. Audiovisual materials, authentic documents, etc.
Teaching a class: observing learners, observing the class, interactive whiteboards, teaching techniques, etc.
Assess: phonetic correction, formative assessment, summative assessment, etc.
Acquire/Strengthen knowledge/skills: leading a virtual classroom, Google Suite, phonetic equipment, foreign language immersion, etc.

If you want to fulfill your dream of teaching French as a foreign language in associations or private institutions in France and/or abroad.
If you have a two-year postsecondary degree (exceptions may be made for applicants without a degree but with professional experience in fields related to education and training).
The steps of your registration
Step 1: Register for the entrance exam and submit the required application documents on the website (photo, resume, cover letter, copy of ID, copy of a minimum two-year postsecondary diploma).

Step 3: Once you have passed the entrance exam and interview, you can begin your training at the Alliance Française in Paris!
Your certification
A diploma will be issued to you at the end of the course, subject to passing the continuous assessment (grades obtained throughout the course).
