Movie-Club - La venue de l'avenir (Cédric Klapisch, 2025)

Activities

Activity reserved to Alliance Française de Paris students and alumni.

Four cousins who do not know each other are brought together by a shared inheritance: a house in Normandy. They set out to discover their family history. They begin to search through the house, which has been abandoned since the 1940s, and trace their family history and the life of their ancestor: Adèle Vermillard, a 20-year-old woman who arrived in Paris in 1895, in the midst of a cultural and industrial revolution.

This period, rich in inventions, saw the birth of both photography and the Impressionist movement, which revolutionised painting. Between 1895 and 2025, the cousins find in the traces of the past what will enable them to better imagine their own future.

After the screening with French subtitles, discuss the film with Jean-François Hans from the Alliance Française Foundation. Popcorn at the door!

Registration will open on 8 January 2026.
