  • [SCREENING] Short Films Buenos Aires / Paris 2021- Friday, November 5th - 7pm

 

Alliance Française de Paris and Muestra de Cortometrajes are happy to invite you to an evening dedicated to French and Argentinian cinema! This event is a great opportunity to discover contemporary film productions from both countries and to talk with young directors about their movies. 

 

Enjoy an exceptional selection of 12 short films, each having its own style and theme, combining fiction and animation, in a screening lasting around 2h30. 

 

Directors Laurent Firode and Grégoire de Bernouis, as well as his team, will join us during the evening. A q&a will be held at the end of the screening, feel free to share your impressions and ask them all of your questions!

 

If you live in France or Argentina, you will also be able to enjoy the movies online from the 5th to the 7th of November at this address https://muestrabaparis.com/ with the exception of “Un adieu” by Mathilde Profit and “Motus” by Elodie Wallace, which will only be played at the screening at Alliance française de Paris on the 5th.

  • [LITERARY ENCOUNTER] Je viens de loin, j’écris en français with Miguel Bonnefoy - Tuesday, November 9th - 7pm

 

 

Born in 1986 from a Venezuelan mother and a Chilean father, Miguel Bonnefoy writes in the language of his studies: French.

Finalist of the Goncourt du Premier Roman and prizewinner of many distinctions (amongst which Prix de la Vocation, Prix Fénéon, and special mention at Prix des Cinq Continents de la francophonie), Miguel Bonnefoy is the author of the acclaimed Voyage d’Octavio (Rivages, 2015). Héritage, his last book until now, came out in 2020.

 

Former French professor in the Alliances Françaises’ network, Miguel Bonnefoy will answer the questions of Bernard Magnier, journalist, editor and specialist on francophone literatures. Join them online to learn more on Miguel’s work and ask him all of your questions!

  • [CONFERENCE] “What is a nation?” by Pascal Ory - Monday, November 15th - 7pm

 

“Nowadays, there is nothing more international than the national”. From this statement, Pascal Ory, historian and member of the Académie française since 2021, will broach the concept of a nation, considered outdated by some, and still very much alive by others.

From the October Revolution in 1917 to the Covid-19 pandemic, how do you define a nation? Are international and national antonyms? What is the future of this concept? 

So many questions that will be addressed by Pascal Ory in this conference, followed  by a discussion with the public and a book signing.
